Shalakh Sam Varughese
Composer & Sound Designer for Visual Media
I am Shalakh Sam Varughese, a composer based in Boston, MA. My passion for film
music began early, shaped by iconic films like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
As a composer, my goal is to create music that elevates a scene without overshadowing the story.
Currently, I am completing my Bachelor's degree in Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music.
Alongside my studies, I work with composer Akram Haddad (orchestrator for
Assassin's Creed Mirage), assisting with arranging, orchestrating, and preparing
professional scores. I also serve as Supervisor and Technology Assistant for the Ensemble
Department, managing auditions and contributing to the development of the department's flagship app.
In addition to my film scoring studies, I am expanding into game scoring and sound design.
I primarily play piano but my expertise expands to other instruments like organ, guitar,
ukulele, drums, congas and basic violin. This versatility brings a strong understanding of
how different instruments function in an orchestra.
I am looking to collaborate with filmmakers and developers who value music as an integral,
intentional part in the narrative experience.
